In Memory of Chris Kundl

BOS member, Chris Kundl, passed away on Friday, June 1st, 2018. He will be best remembered by the birding community as an incredible birder who excelled in the study of gulls reaching a level of skill rarely attained. Chris could almost always be found studying the flocks of gulls at Goat Island on any winter day, no matter how low the frigid temps might fall or how fierce the icy gales and storms might blow from the Mighty Niagara. Chris generously shared his findings, insights, and abilities with us all, mentoring many over the last few years. There's no doubt we will miss his friendly smile, generous spirit, and keen wit.

In memory of his passing, a bench will be placed along the shore of Goat Island where Chris frequently stood and studied the gull flocks just above Three Sisters Islands. BOS member, Rachel Wilson, has met with the Niagara Parks superintendent about planting trees and placing the bench in memory of Chris. A maple tree has already been planted (through donations) and an oak tree is scheduled to be planted as well.

This page has been set up to give details on how you can contribute to Chris' memory should you care to do so.
