Costa Rica Part 2 - February 2022
Back to All Albums
Costa Rica Part 2 was enjoyed by 11 BOS members and spanned a full two weeks. We covered a lot of ground and ended up with an incredible 474 species! Highlights included a 3-owl evening up around 10,000' featuring Costa Rican Pygmy-Owl, Bare-shanked Screech-Owl and Spectacled Owl with a sprinkling of Dusky Nightjars! At Rancho Naturalista we were treated to two iconic species...the Snowcap Hummingbird and a male Lovely Cotinga! Down near the Panamanian border we were treated to Paint-billed Crake, the globally-threatened Yellow-billed Cotinga, and the endemic Black-cheeked Ant-Tanager along with both Black and Ornate Hawk-Eagles! on the backside of the trip we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch at Stella's Bakery at Monteverde while celebrating seeing Three-wattled Bellbird and two species of Leaftossers...oh and did I mention 42 species of hummingbirds?! Enjoy the photos from the trip participants and keep an eye out on the BOS website calendar for the next Part 2 Tour if you think you might be interested!
